Our Partners
Despite the UK’s leisure industry having over 40 years of experience in persuading the nation to be active, the latest figures suggest that only 39% of men and 29% of women (source: BHF 2012) are reaching the Department of Health’s recommended guidelines on physical activity; 150 minutes per week. Clearly, something’s not working as it should and a new approach is needed to inspiring the nation to get moving more.
And that’s where Active Nation comes in. We believe that being a brilliant activity partner is about much more than just opening the doors and renting a few courts. It’s about communicating and liaising with key community stakeholders, talking to people and developing relationships. It’s about lobbying nationally for policy and industry change. It’s about devising and implementing strategies that actually deliver results and making sure that our messages are powerful enough to influence behavioural changes for the better.
It’s about making a positive difference to local communities and improving the wellbeing of the nation by sharing our passion for sport and exercise.
“AN OUTSTANDING PARTNER WORKING WITH US TO ACHIEVE OUR WIDER PUBLIC HEALTH AND SOCIAL INCLUSION SCHEMES. ACTIVE NATION ARE PRO-ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITY, EXTENDING BEYOND LEISURE FACILITIES AND ESTABLISHING DIALOGUE WITH STAKEHOLDERS ACROSS THE COMMUNITY.”

Sailability
At Southampton Water Activities Centre we have teamed up with The Royal Yachting Association to launch an initiative called ‘Sailability’. The project makes sailing more accessible to those with disabilities.
A fleet of specialist Access Dinghies and Sonar Keelboats help us to deliver an innovative project that gives young people and adults freedom and independence out on the water.
Kids Tryathlons
Launched in 2011, and now an annual series of events, our Kids Tryathlons are something special!
They’re an opportunity for us to engage young people in sport and exercise. Helping them discover and try new sports and exercise activities that will hopefully shape their behaviour, attitudes and enthusiasm towards physical activity, with a longer term affect. They’re also a lot of fun!
A New Experience
In 2013 we invested over £500,000 in launching our new Exercise Experience.
As well as transforming our gym environments with the latest equipment, we also tore up the rule book to traditional exercise programming and started to develop a proposition with our partners Precor, Les Mills and The Retention People that has become something very different to the norm!
