Our RYA Foiling courses, starting with our most popular taster session (First Flights), enable you to progress from first foiling take off, to sustaining flights and entering the world of foiling transitions.
We know it can be intimidating taking your first step towards foiling… and you may have spent the last few years (or decades!) trying to keep as dry as you can, but don’t worry! Our programme of RYA Foiling Sessions really are as easy as 1,2,3!
Just as it says on the tin, this 2-4 hour taster session will give you a basic introduction to foiling, equipment and the knowledge required to help you make your first foiling take off.
We’d suggest that you have prior sailing experience and have basic skills to the standard of RYA Level 2 Basic Skills, prior to attending.
You’ve enjoyed your first few goes and want to keep that flight sustained for longer!
Our 2 day course will tech sailors about the practical techniques and theory required to foil, steer and maintain a course effectively.
Any tacking or gybing at this level is non-foiling. It’s important you have already completed your First Flights session before attending this course.
So you’re the expert! Everybody at the club is asking you for tips, tricks and to have a go on your kit!
Our 2 day course will concentrate on advancing skills and technique, as well as foiling knowledge, this course builds your confidence in a variety of foiling angles, whilst also developing the skills for the entry and exits into manoeuvres.
It’s assumed that when booking this course, you have the knowledge and practical ability of the RYA Sustained Flights course or above.
Our Foiling specific training, focuses on personal proficiency in the specific discipline of Foiling.
Our Foiling courses are led by friendly, passionate and expertly qualified RYA Foiling Instructors – we only use the best in the South to deliver this high-end and exhilarating activity.
We offer Foiling courses suitable for adults and teenagers – we’ll chat through minimum requirements when you book.
All specialist kit is provided – including Buoyancy aids and wetsuits, if you don’t already have your own.
We have Foiling kit for both our Laser Sailing Dinghies and our RS Areo.
Our city-centre location means that SWAC is accessible from all major transport routes. Southampton also offers a host of affordable accommodation within walking distance of the Centre, and many local eateries – perfect for overnight stay required for the 2 day Foiling courses.
Our sailing areas allow us to deliver a variety of courses and include the River Itchen, Southampton Water and The Solent.
