At the Outdoor Sports Centre we are proud to offer a wide range of facilities and spaces to the community in Southampton and the surrounding areas. We’re used for a variety of reasons by a range of individuals and organisations. As a charity, on a mission to persuade the nation to be active, we encourage the use of the sports centre for both structured and unstructured activity.   

Any group using the Sports Centre facilities or grounds must book in advance. To ensure everyone's enjoyment we have a few simple rules that all users need to follow.

In 1930 this wooded area of Lordswood was known as Red Lodge Farm. The two cottages on the road at the edge of the Golf Course occupy the site of the original farmhouses.

Although the original site was quite boggy and in a poor state, Alderman Sir Sidney Kimber planned to purchase the site of up to 293 acres for recreational purposes in September 1930. Despite the original proposal being rejected, a second similar one was approved on May 3rd 1933. The then Borough Council purchased over 250 acres of land for just under £50,000 and developed the site with a further £138,000 from a Department of Health loan.

Entertaining the children during the holidays and weekends can prove an expensive business, often involving travelling out of town to theme parks which promise the earth and deliver a substantial hole in the pocket!

The solution lies right on your doorstep. With over 20 attractions, The Pleasure Park is situated on Southampton’s Outdoor Sport Centre and is a great value mini fun fair for younger children. Just turn up and have fun... buy as many tokens as you like and away you go.

The View is a family run bar and bistro set within the grounds of the Outdoor Sports Centre. The View offers refreshments from coffees, ice creams to a wide range of alcohol, light bites, snacks and home cooked meals.

Equipped with a large function room, TVs for sporting occasions, and a comfy lounge area the View is a great place to get together whatever the occasion.

Used by sports teams, community groups, local business and families, the View has a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Southampton Bike Park is a free to ride community built mountain bike park located at Southampton's Outdoor Sports Centre. It is a constantly evolving  environment for riders of all ages and abilities with something to challenge everyone.

This course teaches CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and the safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator.

The course can be added as a "bolt-on" to Emergency First Aid at Work – please contact us for availability prior to booking

If you are looking for a low cost, family-friendly activity then look no further than our 10 hole mini golf course. Open all year round, it is a great way to spend an hour trying to get the ball in the hole.

Reminiscent of the 70's beach front, our vintage course is sure to stir up fond memories of a summer well spent doing something fun, active an outdoors.

The Outdoor Sports Centre has two full Bowls rinks suitable for league match play. It is open to the public for casual use and social games in addition to being the home ground of Southampton Bowls Club. We welcome members of the local community, schools and private users to enjoy and share this space throughout the season.

We can provide playing equipment for groups to help introduce the sport to a wider audience.

We are home to two all-weather synthetic pitches suitable for your training and competitive needs. Both pitches are floodlit and have markings and goals for both full and half-pitch football and hockey.

The synthetic pitches are used by many groups and we are delighted they support such a wide range of the local community to be active. We host regular walking football groups, pay and play individuals, competitive football teams training sessions, weekly social leagues (5, 7 and 11-aside) and several hockey teams.
