Tough Love – Personal Training

There’s no doubt, sticking strictly to your programme or an exercise regime on your own can be TOUGH!

Personal Training sessions are great to get you started, they’re terrific when you’ve got a specific goal in mind or just perfect when you need a motivational ‘pick me up’!

What Is It And How Can It Help Me?

A training session with your own personal instructor who will guide your 30 to 60 minute workout specifically to meet your goals.

One to one training has consistently been proven to be the most effective way of reaching your fitness goals and sticking to an exercise routine. Your exercise sessions will be specifically tailored to your goals and will be constantly monitored and revised as you progress. This prevents boredom, loss of motivation and gives you a real sense of achievement. Most importantly – they will be a fun and effective break from your normal programme.

What Are The Benefits?

  • Increased motivation
  • Expert advice
  • Reduced stress
  • Protection against osteoporosis
  • Stronger focus on achievement
  • Increased energy and self-esteem
  • Reduced risk of CHD (coronary heart disease) and cancer
  • Improved cardiovascular fitness – Stronger heart and lungs

Am I too unfit, old or overweight to work with a trainer? Most definitely not! The whole idea of working with a trainer is to reach your own individual and specific fitness goals.
Will exercising with weights bulk me up? Not unless you want it to. One of the most common fears, especially amongst women, is that training with weights will make them too muscular. Specific resistance work will enhance your body shape and increase your ability to burn that unwanted fat.
How often do I need to train? Like most things in life, the more you put in the more you get out. The general consensus now is that people should be exercising 5 days per week for 30 minutes to gain significant health benefits. However don’t let this put you off. Significant benefits can be seen from 3 days per week, the important thing is to find a range of activities you enjoy and stick with them!
Can’t I use the diet only approach to lose weight? Diet is a very important part of a weight loss programme, but it is by no means the full picture. You must combine a good diet with a good exercise programme; “eat less, move about more” gets the best results.
